Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking official commented the attack left him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
